Welcome To Medway Racing Club

Racing  1/32 Slot Cars in Kent

At MRC we race various makes of hard bodied 1/32 slot cars including Scalextric , SCX , Ninco , Slot it ,  Spirit etc  in a freindly but competative way in Medway Kent.
We have a large routed 6 lane track with computer timing software and meet to race on Wednesday nights from 8 till 10.
New members are always made welcome and there is no need to bring anything at first as the club will be able to furnish you with a car and controller so that you can give this great hobby a go.
Most people find that although it is harder than they originaly thought it is also extremeley addictive and fun, and also challenging, which is probably why the club has been running for over 20 years.
If you would like any more details either email me or come on down and take a peek at Tunbury Hall,Catkin Close, Walderslade,Chatham, Kent.

History of the Club
The group formed in August 1988 and has raced regularly on Wednesday evenings since.

The track is six lanes, wooden, MDF track. Unlike the normal domestic sets the track and hand controllers are ‘Wired for braking’ which slows the cars down for the corners. The average lane length is 90 feet with cars lapping in approximately 7 to 10 seconds.
The whole race evening is controlled by a computer that identifies race position, lap times and league status.

We run many racing events for other racing enthusiasts and the local community. These include national/inter club competitions and exhibitions at local leisure centres and companies.

Members supply their own cars. There is a basic rule of racing ‘Box Standard’ which means that a limited number of alterations can be made to the car. The cars and modifications are detailed on a separate sheet. As a rule, ‘If it is not listed you can’t do it’. In doubt, ask one of the committee members.

There are 30-40 members in the club with an average of 20 on a race night.
Members are split into two leagues A and B with relegation, promotion and trophies awarded at the end of each series of racing.
A series consists of five weeks of racing with the best four weeks scores counting. We are at present racing 8-10 series a year.
